Tuesday, September 22, 2015: Many kinds of apples, sweet and juicy Asian pears, high quality canning tomatoes, and more!

Unbelievably beautiful late summer weather rolls on and on… While the days are pleasantly warm the nights are cool enough to bring color to apples and we should finally see more maple leaves change to fiery reds and oranges. The weather is still warm enough to keep the tomatoes at top quality.  The forecast for the next few days shows a warm-up that may slow the increase in reds in both apples and leaves but we are approaching October and at least a bit of cooler weather should likely make its presence felt soon in Michigan.  However, this is such a strange year that nothing is guaranteed.

We are now harvesting many varieties of apples. See the discussion below the photos for more details.  For our description of the fall/winter apples we grow see our PDF booklet we wrote on most (but not all) of the fall/winter apples BOOKLET ON FALL/WINTER APPLES WE GROW.
